Are you clueless on what CAPTCHA is? Well my fellow internet addict, I assure you that you have already seen a CAPTCHA you are just unaware that it is called as such.
A CAPTCHA is a kind of challenge-respond test that most website use to ensure that the responses are not computer generated. There are many kinds of CAPTCHA but the common ones are those that require the user to type letters or digits from a distorted image that appears on the screen.
And of course the largest social networking site is already using CAPTCHA to ensure that everyone who sign up for a free account are humans and not computers trying to pester or destroy their system.
This is important since not many people are already using MySpace for serious business and once it is hacked by the computer chances are the money that they have invested for this online endeavor would all go down the drain.
For instance, we all know how the MySpace background could tell a lot about the person or the online store. There are some computer hackers who are so shallow that they wanted to irritate us by randomly changing our background without us knowing.
Of course, they included undesirable background that would only leave you embarrassed to the entire MySpace community. In order to avoid this, the management of MySpace already installed a CAPTCHA device to ensure that anyone who would change the background of a particular profile is a human.
However, there are still far too many computer geeks out there who could bypass CAPTCHA. According to Michael White and Graham Murphy from Symantec research, a remote user can replay a previous View State parameter value to bypass the CAPTCHA entirely. They added that the specific impact depends on how the CAPTCHA component is integrated with the system.
